Piece 1 “Father, Son & Holy Spirit”

When I took my first series of self portraits this was the very first image that I chose to edit in a heart beat. I did not know how I was going to edit this photo but I just lived the authentic essence of the RAW image. I loved how clear the the hands were and how it made a visible triangle. The gold mist around my kith from the effect of the slow shitter speed combined with my gold earring. The halo ringed around my head, the gentle movement of my hair. Everything in this image was composed perfectly if I must say. I was asked to go back to one of my original styles that were black and white but had a splash of colour in them which I tired but it wasn’t enough colour. So I then went “crazy” and blended some colours together, added further highlights and I created this final piece

Piece 2 “I died”

I think the links to the titles of my art pieces safely depict this. They’re quite blunt, no need for further explanation “I died” for instance. It’s a pretty solid statement but it’s evident either way juxtaposition as when looking upon the image it’s very colourful yet you can see my “soul/spirit” leaving my body. I would at times view death as euphoric as life was exhausting and debilitating. I found pain in life and peace in death. I purposely made the image half black and white and the other half full colour. I don’t like to make images look the same and so I had to keep remixing the art style, additionally I intended to make A LOT of self portraits and so there was a bit of pressure to create difference consistently.

Piece 3 “Touch of the heavens”

I once heard the phrase “touch of the heavens” said by Freddie Mercury who is one of my all time favourite musicians. I also really reasonated with this quote and I like the conflicting feelings behind it. Suicide is said to be sin, if one no linger intends to want to live their life, why be touched by the heavens. if I was graced to be put on this earth then I was touched by the heavens. The irony of this phrase can be further interpreted by the mere fact that I am expecting to be touched by the heavens…what if I’m not, what if I never was. Is there heaven? The feeling of conflict clearly has emulsified me. The white in the background trying to envelope me by the darkness that is suffocating me is clearly showing a battle between life and death. Heaven and hell.

Piece 4 “6 eyes”

When people look on my art the first thing they say is “it’s dream like”. At times I don’t east to agree with that. This art is about pain, internal suffering and death, but who is at fault for making it dream like? None other than me. What’s nice about this is that one may not even see a “dead girl” in this. they won’t interpret it as such they’ll see a girl in brough colourful unique photos. It goes back to that idea of me hiding behind a facade. I wear a mask, which I do in real life. I am the bubbly happy loud one. I make all the jokes and put beautiful smiles on people’s faces. I make self portraits with beautiful colors, beautiful compositions with a beautiful face. Yet you’d never know. In my art I’m supposed to be honest, the idea was to deeply express my longing sadness. Yet I didn’t succeed.

I called this piece 6 eyes. Because you can seee 6 eyes. I also felt it was appropriate as I’m psychic, some don’t believe in it some do, but it’s something that runs in my family and I’ve had visions and foreseen the future of my loved ones. I see more than with just “2 eyes”.

Piece 5 “dead girl walking”

Yh e image looks like I’m being pulled by two forces, like I’m walking into death through the light. My hands are also fading in the image and are being pulled in first. My eyes are also closed so you can tell I’m walking into the abyss with blind trust almost.

Piece 6 “soul escaping”

This one I wanted to be a play on the image. The meaning of the art is supposed to be quite sad yet I wanted the image to look exililarating. I usually add quite a lot of depth and sharpness to my photography but I wanted to create something “cute” almost, innocent like. Yet this was my “soul escaping”.
